Bella's T-Shirt Quilt

(Please note: There are more posts in this series about Bella's T-Shirt Quilt. I am making a quilt like Bella's. See the Sidebar on the right for list of related posts as we document my progress.)

Warning:  Eclipse, the movie, spoiler......

One of the scenes I looked forward to was Bella's visit to Florida to see her mom.  Renee was conspicuously absent in New Moon, the movie, for one.  Secondly, Bella's visit to see her mom in Eclipse was too important of a plot point not to be included in the movie.  (Edward manipulates her into going because of Alice's vision of Victoria's return to Forks.  Even though Bella is committed to becoming a vampire, she still is overcome by the knowledge of all she will be leaving behind including her parents.  Because of her original timetable to be changed after graduation, this could have been the last time she would see her mom.)  Lastly, I was looking forward to see if the quilt made it into the movie.

I learned of a spoiler early this year about the T-shirt quilt that Renee presents to Bella during her trip to Florida.  I also saw a picture of it among the many officially released movie photos this spring.  I was so pleased to see the quilt!  I love it when quilts are in movies....

You'll always be my Bella.....

I've never made a T-shirt quilt.  I flirted with the idea when Twilight, the movie, came out.  I purchased some Twilight T-Shirts at WalMart and the stabilizer needed to back the cut-out logos before sewing them together to make the quilt top.  (There are many resources online, patterns, and even books with detailed instructions and tips for making T-shirt quilts.)  I have yet to make the quilt, but someone else in another group took the idea and is making a Twilight T-shirt quilt of their own.  I haven't lost hope that someday I will get mine made.

I've had a couple of hits on my personal blog of people looking for "Bella's T-shirt Quilt".  I think it's time that we make one here and document our work for anyone that wants to play along.  I'll be looking for T-shirts around town.  If anyone would like to donate a T or two you can contact us at

I am willing to trade FQs for Ts, too.  (Please note they must be in good condition--gently used is fine, but stain-free in the logo area.)
