Design Wall Monday: Twilight (Mystery) Quilt

First of all, a shout out to Judy at Patchwork Times for hosting Design Wall Monday every week!  Be sure to hop over and see other design walls from her blog......

The Twilight Hands Book Cover block is on my design wall this week.  I designed the paper piecing pattern by hand and then in EQ7 because I wanted a block that was more detailed than the one that was available.  The links for the pattern are located in the Sidebar.

It is going into the Twilight (Mystery) Quilt.  I am putting the finishing touches on the design, including figuring out how to get the applique parts, like the chess pieces that should be on the lower right, into EQ7.  The mystery blocks are the featured blocks in the middle of the chessboard pictured now as grey.

My original drawing on graph paper:

The design has changed slightly in the EQ7 version for piecability reasons.  Making an EQ7 version was a tremendous help!

My plan is to piece as much of the quilt as I can.  The featured blocks are still being designed.  They are 7", will be framed in red, and the checkerboard will be pieced around them.  I have pieced part of the ribbon on the left side, but I don't have pictures.

Has everyone seen the Breaking Dawn Teaser Trailer?!

  1. I am fascinated by this concept. I love the layered look of the checker board and the blocks to be. It will be amazing.

  2. I hope you'll be posting morn on this quilt as you reveal the mystery. It's positively fascinating!
