Happy Birthday, Bella!

Oops! No candles..... And, a little late to the party....

I made this block for the New Moon Quilt that never got finished after I was ousted from the other group. I modified a block from Linda Causee's 365 Foundation Quilt Blocks to make a three-layer cake as inspired by New Moon, the movie. I also have to admit that it's a direct rip of Iris Fox's Bella's Birthday Cake from the other coven's New Moon Quilt. She appliqued hers with ribbon. At the time, we said that we liked the cake, but not the colors and looked to the book for more inspiration. I still have the block stashed away. It may or may not get finished with candles and other embellishments, like flowers, that I had planned.

Happy Birthday, Bella!

Yeah, I think I'm as depressed today as I would be on my own birthday. HA!

I have something to look forward, though, right?! A certain trailer will be out for me to watch a couple hundred times this afternoon!! Oh, happy day in the land of Twilight!!!

Breaking Dawn, p. 470

Happy Birthday! she squealed.
I rolled my eyes. No one starts counting on the actual day of birth, I reminded her. Your first birthday is at the year mark, Alice.

Her grin turned smug. We're not celebrating your vampire birthday. Yet. It's September thirteenth, Bella. Happy nineteenth birthday!

I can imagine that a quilt or two decorated Bella and Edward's cottage. I don't think it's too much of a stretch considering that Esme, Rosalie, and Alice came from an era where quiltmaking and other such skills were a part of women's homemaking lives. Would Esme, Rosalie, and Alice have gotten together to make a wedding quilt for Bella and Edward to decorate their cottage? Why not?!

I still hope to get the Quilt-Along going by the end of the day. I'm stuck at work, though.....

  1. I haven't had much of a chance to quilt in a while. My life has been unraveling and I let sadness take me away for a while. Tonight I felt inspired to look up your progress and it made me smile. You are amazing, thank you for sharing your beautiful work. I think your blocks are worth the wait. Kristen

  2. @Kristen

    I'm glad you stopped by!

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having a tough time. I can identify with that circumstance. I hope things get better for you soon.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

    HUgZ, Shannon
